The phrase “the golden years” has a new meaning around The Glen at Scripps Ranch. More than 100 seniors who call the San Diego senior living community home have proven that age is just a number while participating in a weeklong Olympic-style competition.
The Glen at Scripps Ranch proudly hosted these events for the second year. The primary aim is to foster a strong sense of community and encourage an active lifestyle among seniors. This mission is evident in the community’s year-round activities and amenities.
On Monday, July 15, the Olympic events started with the opening torch ceremony and parade. Hundreds of residents and team members attended, and six countries were represented.
You can see scenes from the parade on KGTV.
The games included pickleball, ping pong, golf, billiards and pool noodle racing. “We have a very active community here,” Director of Sales and Marketing Brad Logsdon told KUSI-TV during an interview. “While some of our residents did go to Paris this year, not everyone could make it. But here, everyone can compete. And they’re all having a great time.”
The games concluded on Friday, July 19. The community hosted a closing ceremony, with a medal presentation and wine and cheese, Paris-style.
