Understand the Costs
Because so much is included, residents pay for Life Plan Communities like The Glen at Scripps Ranch in different ways than they would for a traditional single-family home or a rental apartment. Residents pay a one-time, highly repayable entrance fee and a monthly fee. These fees cover a residence plus everything included in the lifestyle, as well as a solid plan for the future included at a predictable monthly fee.
Entrance Fee
An investment towards complete peace of mind.
Residents at The Glen pay a one-time, highly repayable entrance fee upon move-in. Many residents use the proceeds from the sale of their current home to pay for it, and most of this fee is repaid to the resident or their estate. The price is based on the size and location of the home they select. At The Glen, the fees start in the $500,000s and can be over $1,000,000 for our largest homes.
Monthly Fee
Includes nearly everything – there’s no better value.
For those who take time to do the math, The Glen can prove to be a compelling value. Residents enjoy a well-planned retirement lifestyle with priority access to the adjacent health center for assisted living, memory care, and long-term care in a skilled nursing center, if ever needed.
An accurate understanding of which services and amenities that are included is important to see the full value. Many of the perks at The Glen are not standard fare at other SoCal retirement communities. These include meals at restaurants, housekeeping and landscaping maintenance, entertainment and transportation services, pickleball and tennis, move theater, open-air indoor pool, and other on-site attractions.
In addition to simplifying their finances, residents are no longer responsible for property taxes, HOA charges, real estate insurance, or most of their utilities – and can receive significant tax benefits associated with their new move.

Retirement Communities aren’t all the same.
Not all Life Plan Communities (also known as Continuing Care Retirement Communities, or CCRCs) provide the same level of long-term care support to residents, and some retirees choose to take on more risk than others. Finding the right fit is important, and the state of California has provided help by categorizing communities as type A, B or C.
